GPS Tech Tips
Forks been off? Are they HARSH? Check this:
When forks are put on the motorcycle, it is very important to align the tubes. This is done by first tightening the axle all the way. The tubes are then aligned by pumping the forks up and down with the right hand axle clamp loose. This will line the tubes up so they don’t “bind”. Finally don’t forget to tighten the axle clamp. (And of course have fun!)
Service that Shock:
By far, one of the most neglected item on the motorcycle is the rear shock, yet it withstands much abuse, as well as heat (touch it carefully one time--it gets HOT with riding). Also most of the factory oil that comes in rear shock is of poor quality from a performance standpoint. At MIN IMUM a rear shock should be serviced once per race season. At GPS Racing we get $69.00 for this service, which is a complete rebuild, not just an “oil change”. Also, while your shock is off the machine, grease the linkage to prevent undue friction and bearing damage.
